You might want to think of calcium and vitamin D as a crime-fighting team, banding together to keep your bones safe from harm.

Without calcium to fight bone loss as adults age, bones can get brittle and break. Without its partner, vitamin D, your body can’t absorb enough calcium to strengthen your bones.

For children, a deficiency of calcium and vitamin D can mean they are not growing strong bones at a time when it counts most.

Uncle Wally’s is meeting this vital need by adding these two superhero nutrients to our new Fun Muffins (we think they are the most delicious way on Earth to get in a good source of calcium and D!). Other sources of calcium include dairy products like milk, yogurt and cheese. You can get vitamin D from sun exposure and from foods like cod or fish liver oils, egg yolks, tuna, sardines and fortified milk and orange juice.

Besides bone health, there are lots of reasons to make sure you get an adequate supply of this powerhouse pair: Calcium is needed for heart, nerves and muscles to work well and for blood to clot; Vitamin D helps the immune system fight infections and may help ward off cancer, autoimmune diseases like MS and diabetes, and depression.
